A new concept for ACS: trade exhibition and lectures at the same time and place (Dec 7, 2007)

Registrations already received from renowned exhibitors

ACS from 9 to 11 April 2008 in association with Light+Building again

ACS, Computer Systems in the Architecture, Construction and Engineering Industry, will take place for the second time in association with Light+Building – International Trade Fair for Architecture and Technology – which will open its doors in Frankfurt am Main from 6 to 11 April 2008. This event for information and communication technology in the building sector will be distinguished by a new concept when it is held in the Congress Centre Messe Frankfurt from 9 to 11 April. Iris Jeglitza-Moshage, Vice President, Technical Fairs, Messe Frankfurt: “For the first time, the exhibition and lectures will be concentrated together in the Congress Centre Messe Frankfurt. The Hessian Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners (Architekten- und Stadtplanerkammer Hessen – AKH) has compiled an attractive programme of lectures entitled ACS Forum. The new format will provide considerable additional value for ACS visitors: while the exhibition provides an overview of the latest products and technologies, the lectures and panel discussions offer an in-depth look at many topics of relevance to the sector. Moreover, visitors can once again benefit from the synergies with Light+Building.”

Numerous renowned companies from the sector have already registered to exhibit at ACS. They include Autodesk GmbH, Munich. Christian Weiss, Marketing Solution Manager of Autodesk: “We are delighted to once again take advantage of ACS as a platform on which to conduct an intensive dialogue with users, partners and product developers in the field of building and architecture. Autodesk primarily uses ACS to present the latest products and trends to an audience of experts. At the fair, we find our target groups, i.e., architects, planners and engineers, who are particularly interested in our solutions, which enable them to increase their productivity and profitability in their daily work. Additionally, holding ASC in association with Light+Building generates numerous synergy effects, particularly in relation to the internationality and specialist quality of the visitors, as well as in terms of the power of attraction of a well established, leading trade fair.”

High-grade ACS Forum

Held parallel to the trade exhibition, the ACS Forum in the Congress Centre Messe Frankfurt spotlights subjects of topical interest to the sector. The items on the provisional agenda are as follows:

Facility Management (as a strategic discipline) with regard to life-cycle costs as the basis for demand-oriented cost optimisation
“Building in existing buildings”, e.g., gathering information about the building stock, documenting the building stock as the basis for project development
Economic efficiency: building-cost planning and building-cost management, including the solution of interface problems; economic efficiency
Efficiency and economic effectiveness in firms of architects and engineers
Intelligent homes: lecture and special tour for architects of the ‘Intelligent Home of the Present’ in cooperation with the General Association of the German Electrical and Information Technology Trade (Zentralverband der Deutschen Elektro- und Informationstechnischen Handwerke – ZVEH).

The high-grade programme of lectures is being compiled by the Hessian Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners (AKH). This body is also the notional sponsor of ACS and approves the lectures as training for architects. Approval by other chambers is currently under consideration. Entry to the ACS Forum is free of charge for visitors to the fair.

ACS was held parallel to Light+Building for the first time in 2006 when over 100 exhibitors presented their software solutions and services on around 2,500 square metres of exhibition space. Around 6,300 visitors attended ACS to find out about future developments in the field of information and communication technology. A representative poll of visitors showed that 86 percent of visitors to ACS 2006 considered they had achieved their goals for visiting the fair. 70 percent said it was advantageous to hold ACS parallel to Light+Building.

ACS made its debut in 1984. In 2005, Messe Frankfurt took over ACS from the Hessian Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners (AKH) and integrated it into Light+Building as an independent event. ACS is one of the most important communication forums for the construction sector and offers software solutions, hardware, services and specialist information for all concerned. The trade fair reflects process chains in the building sector and shows how the use of modern information and communication technologies can provide significant support and simplify all aspects of building from planning, building and using to recycling. The spectrum of products to be seen at ACS is aimed at representatives of all parts of the building sector, e.g., architects, owners, contractors, property developers, engineers, facility managers, interior architects, investors, project developers, urban planners and building authorities.

ACS is an optimum addition to Light+Building and enriches the range of products and services at the leading international trade fair. Light+Building – International Trade Fair for Architecture and Technology – in Frankfurt am Main is the world’s leading innovation platform for the sector and will next be held from 6 to 11 April 2008. Messe Frankfurt expects around 2,100 exhibitors to take part. All national and international market leaders from the three interdisciplinary fields of lighting, electrical engineering and house and building automation will be represented on almost 230,000 square metres of exhibition space (gross). Around 135,000 trade visitors are expected to come to Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre for Light+Building 2008.
